Live Updates on Trump Tariffs: Possible Canada Compromise, as China Vows to Fight

 Latest Updates:

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told Bloomberg Television on Wednesday that President Donald Trump will announce a decision this afternoon regarding tariffs on Mexico and Canada. Lutnick suggested a possible adjustment “somewhere in the middle,” which could provide tariff relief to compliant companies, including automakers, under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. The trade deal was originally signed during Trump’s first term in office.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. posted on social media platform X, stating, “If war is what the U.S. wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war, or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end.” Similar remarks were made by China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian.

Addressing Congress on Tuesday, Trump remarked that his administration would be “okay” with “a little disturbance” caused by tariffs.
